Build for Impact and Get Ready for Market: Social Enterprise Development Workshop
Are you a non-profit leader looking to diversify your income beyond grants and donations? Are you a social enterprise still getting off the ground? Do you want to turn your social mission into a competitive advantage in the marketplace? Join us on October 22 from 9am to 1pm at Station 20 West for an interactive four-hour workshop designed specifically for new social enterprises or non-profits planning to launch a social enterprise, with a focus on how to market for business and government clients.
Objective
In partnership with Quint, Buy Social Canada will deliver a customized training to support local social enterprises and non-profits to understand the basics of social procurement and social enterprise and learn more about how to plan a social enterprise business using the 5M’s model (Mission, Market, Money, Manage, Measure). This training is intended to strengthen relationships in the local social economy sector, raise awareness about business to business (B2B) and business to government (B2G) social procurement opportunities, and support the growth of social enterprise in Saskatoon.
Format
The training will have two main portions: a 2-hour workshop that will guide you to plan or sustain your social enterprise using the 5Ms model, and a 1.5-hour roundtable brainstorming session that will include local purchasers and small business support organizations to share expert advice and work through the business ideas you developed in the workshop. There will be a 30-minute break between sessions and light refreshments will be provided.
Why attend?
Actionable frameworks: Master the 5Ms planning tool to plan your business and identify high-potential opportunities in your local market.
- Turn mission into market: Learn how to position your social enterprise as a preferred partner for businesses and government agencies seeking suppliers who deliver both quality results and measurable social impact.
- Learn from local success: Hear real-world stories from Build Up Saskatoon and SWEEP, two social enterprises that have successfully scaled through B2B and B2G contracts while creating meaningful employment for people facing barriers.
- Connect with decision makers: Network directly with purchasers, small business support organizations, and fellow social enterprise leaders to build the relationships that drive contracts.
- Meet your mandates: Discover how revenue diversification can help you meet organizational goals while increasing financial resilience.
Who should attend?
- Social enterprise leaders, even if still in the early planning stages
- Non-profit leaders looking to diversify revenue or already planning to start a social enterprise
- Other interested parties from the social economy in Saskatoon looking to better understand social enterprise and market opportunities for social value

"The Infinite Build" Western Canada Rural & Remote Broadband Conference Saskatoon November 2-3, 2026
For a decade, the narrative across rural and remote Canada was clear: Connect the unconnected. We focused on the "finish line"—a specific speed, a specific map, a specific government target. But as foundational builds near completion, a new reality is setting in: In the digital age, there is no "done."
The Infinite Build is a call to action for the architects of Canada’s remote economy. We are moving from the era of "Basic Access" into the era of "Infinite Demand." With the explosion of AI, the surge in satellite constellations, and the integration of remote sensing, the infrastructure we thought was the destination is actually just the first step.
If we remain complacent, we risk building tomorrow’s bottlenecks today. This conference is where we stop chasing old targets and start defining the End Game. Find out more and register here |
