Get Ready for Economic Development Week May 6 -10
SEDA is once again pleased to celebrate Economic Development Week in Saskatchewan from May 6 to May 10, 2024, highlighting Indigenous Economic Development Day on May 6. This week aims to deepen the understanding and involvement of both the public and elected officials in community economic development. It showcases the critical role this activity plays in stimulating job creation, attracting and retaining businesses, and enhancing community well-being and safety.

Highlights of Saskatchewan Economic Development Week:

  • Indigenous Economic Development Day (May 6): A day to celebrate the vital contribution of Indigenous entrepreneurs and economic development agencies to Saskatchewan's economy, acknowledging economic development as a key factor in reconciliation.
  • Economic Development Toolkit (May 7-10): Offers participants resources to boost their local economic impact, communicate and engage with policymakers, and discover the benefits of SEDA membership.
  • Social Media Engagement: Join the provincial and international celebration by using the following hashtags in your social media channels: #EconDevWeek #QualityOfLife #EDW2024 #InclusiveEcDev
  • Paths to Prosperity Summit: Register for the leading annual summit on June 12 and 13 in Saskatoon, bringing attendees the latest trends, strategies, and success stories in economic development from Saskatchewan and beyond.

SEDA has been leading several key initiatives that highlight the essence of what Economic Development Week is supposed to showcase:

  • The 2022-2025 Digital Adoption Program -Grow Your Business Online, aids small and micro-enterprises in leveraging digital tools and e-commerce platforms and provides work experience for young adults.
  • The ongoing Connected Saskatchewan public awareness program enhances broadband access and services for municipalities and Indigenous governments.
  • The Community Workforce Development Program implemented in 2023-24, provided training, and where possible, work placements, for 165 individuals within ten rural communities in the Humboldt region.
  • The Rural Community Safety and Well-being (CSWB) Planning Pilot facilitated CSWB plans in the communities of Nipawin, Humboldt, Outlook and Estevan.
