Investment Readiness Funding Announcement

Good afternoon valued members!

The SEDA office has received a number of inquiries following the funding announcement by our partners PrairieCan and the Province of Saskatchewan. Here is a summary overview of the initiative:

Saskatchewan Investment Readiness Initiative(SIRI)

SEDA has committed to providing deliverables in a minimum of five geographic regions outside of the Regina and Saskatoon markets. These regions have been determined in consultation with the funding partners and resources permitting, we will expand this scope. The five regions are:

  • Northwest - Battlefords, rural communities north of the Battlefords to HWY 55 and HWY 16 rural corridor between Borden and Lloydminster
  • North Central - Prince Albert west to Spiritwood, east to Nipawin, south to Prud'Homme
  • West Central - south from HWY 16 to HWY 32, east to HWY 4
  • South West - south from HWY 32 to US border, west to AB border, east to HWY 4
  • East Central - Yorkton south to Rocanville, west to Ituna, east to MB border and north to Preeceville

Engaging industry in the sectors of agri-value, manufacturing, minerals and energy within these regions is a primary objective. We will also conduct economic and opportunity assessments followed by engaging communities in discussion.

Additionally, at a provincial level, with the participation of communities and nations, we will build an inventory of available commercial/industrial land(and associated site selector datasets) by community and establish an online inventory to share with prospective investors.

Feel free to reach out to CEO Verona Thibault at 306-384-5817 with any questions.

Community Engaged Projects - University of Saskatchewan

Community Engaged Projects is an opportunity to augment short term capacity for non-profit organizations and communities - with a maximum 30 hour commitment by a University of Saskatchewan student.  Students are partially or fully funded depending on the nature of the partnership.

SEDA is currently benefiting from this program with a student  developing a social media campaign to promote the social impact marketplace at www.sehub.ca   A second student is conducting online research and setting up several contact databases bases.
