Revamped Online Community and Economic Development Program now Live

We are excited to announce that our revamped program is now online and remains an extremely cost-effective investment for both professionals and elected officials. The four module program contains 20 lessons, each lesson featuring a moderated video, lesson manual and interactive quiz. Best practices and reading pertinent to lesson subject matter is included.

PCED.SK Certification Exam November 3, 2025 9 am to noon in Saskatoon

Individuals meeting certification eligibility will be able to write the classroom based exam the day prior to our Provincial Summit. SEDA's online Community and Economic Development Program functions as the Study Guide for the exam with exam questions drawn directly from the quizzes and assignments.Please contact SEDA team member Logan McManus with any questions on sitting the certification exam.

Broadband Co-operative a Proactive Initiative

In the Shuswap region of BC, people recognized that high-speed internet is a necessity, not a luxury.The broadband co-op, founded by SEDS, Skwlax Group Ltd., and the Village of Chase, aims to build an open-access fibre optic network to serve approximately 2,000 underserved households in rural Shuswap. For the founders, the appeal of a co-operative is that control and the benefits of the business stay local.

July-August SIRI Brief: Rural Innovation Hubs

Rural innovation hubs are a potentially transformative approach to economic development, leveraging local assets and building community capacity to create sustainable economic growth. These hubs can serve as service centres with expertise in one or more areas to benefit the regional ecosystem. Saskatchewan's Southeast Tech Hub is a successful example of a rural innovation hub leveraging the assets of a region. SEDA has long advocated for the creation of rural and remote hubs to strengthen economic and administrative capacity for trading area communities, and ensure their long term stability. Hubs can address the unique challenges facing rural economies while building an investment attraction value proposition based on lower costs of doing business, shared resources and enhancing quality of life.
