Lifetime Achievement: Darrell Balkwill |
|
In 1986, Darrell began employment with the Saskatoon Tribal Council as their Economic Development Officer, working with the seven-member First Nations for 17 years. Darrell moved on to serve the Whitecap Dakota First Nation in 2003, as Director of Economic Development and CEO of the Whitecap Development Corporation. Today, Whitecap Dakota First Nation boasts the lowest unemployment rate among all Saskatchewan First Nations communities and is a leader in the regional economy. |

Community Project Population over 5,000: The AWESOME Program |
|
An initiative of the Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre, the AWESOME Program provides a safe space for women to explore investment opportunities, become leaders and access the agri-food community. The program provides services in alignment with the technical nuances of food production, filling a previous gap in business development support for women in agri-business.

Community Project Population Under 5,000: Carlton Trail College & RM of Prince Albert |
|
Since 2017, Carlton Trail College has worked with the R.M. of Prince Albert to strengthen workforce employability skills, increase and develop an in-demand labour pool, enhance the skill sets of under-represented groups in the labour market and better align regional workforce development activities to provincial need. |

Marketing Innovation Population over 5,000: FDC Regional Economic Development Commission |
|
The northern communities of Creighton, Denare Beach and Flin Flon MB established a formal partnership to attract and nurture development opportunities, and drive economic diversification. In 2022 the FDC launched an Investment Attraction Toolkit aimed at guiding and expediting investments that align with its vision and to foster planned diversification. |

Marketing Innovation Population under 5,000: Town of Coronach |
|
Moving through a major industry transition, Coronach's leaders engaged residents in examining their past and weaving that into possibilities for the future. One of the first outcomes of their local community economic development efforts is a shout out to Coronach’s origins.
A new communication campaign “Escape the Race” features a rebrand for the community and aims to harness the emotion of its local residents in striking a new narrative for the future.

This prestigious award recognizes excellence from a consultant and client perspective. South Sask Ready took home the 2022 Gold Medal and title of National Champion for Canada for its Sector Feasibility Study conducted by Amistras Consulting. |
