Past winners have included rural childcare co-ops, a consulting co-op, and a community takeover of a small town's grocery store.

The second contest is a draw for anyone that wants to learn more about co-ops! Everyone who signs up for their FREE Intro to Co-ops online course will be entered for a chance to win a $100 Co-op gift card.

Rural towns focus on retaining businesses, attracting investment during Small Business Week

Leaders in rural Saskatchewan communities say economic development is increasingly about retaining existing businesses, filling service gaps and finding opportunities for sustainable growth.Representatives from Preeceville and Kamsack say their communities still see signs of business activity but face challenges common to many small towns, including aging infrastructure, vacant properties, and the high cost of new construction.

Changing the way we shop

On Patagonia’s website, starting today, you can shop for new and used clothing at the same time. The company first launched its resale platform, Worn Wear, nine years ago, making it a pioneer in the brand-owned secondhand clothing space. The platform lets customers send back used clothing in exchange for a gift card; the clothing is then cleaned, repaired, and sold at a deep discount to someone else. But until now, you had to open a different website to actually buy refurbished Patagonia clothing. Now it’s in the same place, and you can add new and used clothing to the same shopping cart.

First Nation using a data center to preserve its heritage

A First Nations community in Ontario has installed a micro data centre to securely store its records and preserve Indigenous language recordings for future generations. The facility is part of a wider effort to modernise the community's digital infrastructure and protect its data from climate threats and external control.
