Announcing the Launch of the Saskatchewan Social Enterprise Hub

SEDA is excited to announce the launch of the Saskatchewan Social Enterprise (SE) Hub and a province-wide needs assessment study on the SE sector. Thank you to our collaborators Saskatchewan Indigenous Economic Development Network, Community Futures Saskatchewan, Aboriginal Friendship Centers of Saskatchewan, and Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association for co-founding this initiative. With the support of the Canadian CED Network we have now retained an independent contractor who will be reaching out to all sectors to determine what further action is needed to grow SE in the province.

Working together is a vital part of reaching those stretch goals, and we’re happy to share the stories of how collaborative efforts are succeeding all around the province. There are so many success stories that we are bringing two Collaboration is our Superpower panels to the summit. One will include panelists from First Nation development corporations, and another will focus on community-driven collaboration including municipalities and community groups. Consultation on Building a Green Prairie Economy Act

Prairies Economic Development Canada is actively seeking feedback on upcoming legislation. The Building a Green Prairie Economy Act calls for the development of a framework that promotes clean economic growth and stronger collaboration between federal and Prairie partners. The engagement site includes a short (five-question) anonymous survey, details on the proposed legislation, and other ways to share your input. They are accepting submissions until June 30.

Nokomis’ Transformation to a Connected Town

A combination of luck and fate helped Nokomis go from lagging internet to a connection to the fastest circuit in Saskatchewan, with triple redundancy. The SEDA blog includes the story of how Nokomis became a Connected Town.
