Aquaponics in Little Bear First Nation
Aquaponics in Little Bear First Nation
After years of planning, construction is due to start this summer on an aquaponics facility that will expand agricultural production on the First Nation. Combining aquaculture and hydroponics, the facility will allow the nation to produce vegetables, herbs, medicinal plants, and up to 125 tonnes of fresh fish every year. The community already farms 800 acres of organic grains, and say the new project is a big step forward.

High-Speed Coming to Strasbourg
High-Speed Coming to Strasbourg
Last month, installation work began in Strasbourg, the latest community to link into high-speed fibre optic internet services from FlexNetworks. Initial discussions began in late 2021, followed by town hall meetings in 2022, and then doorstep conversations in early 2023. The residential network offers up to 2.5 gigabits per second, and customers could be using the new service as soon as this summer.
