Green Lake is a northern municipality with approximately 500 permanent residents. We are the third oldest settlement in the province of Saskatchewan. It is a village steeped in the rich history of the Metis and First Nations people and the fur-trade that founded our nation. We obtained status as a village in 1982 under provincial legislation designating Green Lake as an Urban Municipality governed under the Northern Municipalities Act. The first Mayor and Council were elected locally in 1983 to govern the village and surrounding agriculture land. Currently we provide water and sewer services road maintenance recreation facilities playgrounds and a volunteer fire brigade for village residents.
