Economic Nutrition

A SEDA + Shorefast Initiative
A certification program for businesses ready to show where their money goes and how it makes an impact.
SEDA, in partnership with Shorefast, is bringing the Economic Nutrition™ Certification Program to Southeast Saskatchewan—one of the first regional cohorts in Canada.
This is your opportunity to gain a clear, credible understanding of how your organization’s spending impacts your community—and to use that insight to make stronger, more strategic decisions.

Every day, your organization spends money.
But do you know:
- How much stays in your local economy?
- Where value is leaving your region?
- How your procurement decisions shape community economic health?
Most organizations don’t—and that’s the gap Economic Nutrition™ is designed to fill.
What is Economic Nutrition™?
Economic Nutrition™ is a third-party certification program developed by Shorefast that shows:
- Where your money goes (local, provincial, national, international)
- What your money pays for (labour, suppliers, operations, etc.)
It translates complex financial and supply chain data into a simple, trusted “label”—similar to a nutrition label on food.
This gives you a powerful tool to:
- Guide internal decision-making
- Build trust with customers, partners, and investors
- Demonstrate your contribution to local economic resilience
- Join the Southeast Saskatchewan Cohort
Through this initiative, SEDA is leading a regional, cohort-based program designed specifically for organizations in Southeast Saskatchewan.
Over a three-month period, you will:
- Work alongside other businesses and organizations in your region
- Receive hands-on support from Shorefast and SEDA
- Build your own certified Economic Nutrition™ label [
This cohort model creates shared learning, regional collaboration, and real momentum.
What You’ll Walk Away With
By the end of the program, you will have:
- A certified Economic Nutrition™ label based on your actual spending
- Clear insights into how your dollars move through the economy
- Opportunities to strengthen local suppliers and partnerships
